Librarian Distinction #3

On Thursday I had Librarian with Charlie, when we got there we started off by going and getting the books off the trolley and back on the shelves once again.
The first type of books we started with were the picture books with just have one letter of the alphabet on the side, the shelves have the same so they match up.
Next we did the chapter books which have three letters on the side that are dicided by the first three letters of the authors last name, the shelves have one letter but you put it in alphabetical order.
Secondly we started returning books by Charlie was on the computer and I was scanning.
Next we issued books out for people by Charlie typing in there name so that once I scan it the book will be out under there name.
Then we went around telling people that we were closing the library.
After that we went around tidying up the cushions, chairs and books.

I showed respect by staing the whole time and not just walking out.

I was also being trustworthy by putting the books in the right areas

I have continued being a role model by helping others find the books they were looking for.

Peer Mediation Distinction #3

On Friday I had Peer Mediation with Anneke  when it was time for our duty we went and put our vests on and our landlards so that people knew that they could come to us if they had a problem.
There were no isssues which is good again.
Firstly we went around the junior side of the field because there are always a lot of people on it so just to make sure there weren't any problems. Secondly we went around the senior side which is where alot of people again are.
Then we went around the junior area because the little kids sometimes have problems.
Next we walk around the netball and basketball courts to see if everyone was doing the write thing. Then we when around the classrooms to see what people were doing and make sure they where in the right place.

I showed respect by not walking though peoples games.

I was also being an active thinker by where to walk by knowing where must problems are.

I continued being a role model by putting my things back in the right place.

Waterways

I can take action to improve the water cycle in Canterbury

In this project I was working with Anneke, Charlie, Maddy and Savannah and we decided to create a tv ad.

Here is a link what we made.

In this project we decided that our success criteria were: It need’s to have Humor, Catchy, Metaphor and similes to get your point across, Audio and video must match up and A bold main statement.

Overall our project met/do not meet this criteria because we made shore that we added all the criterias that we said it needed.

Drama

WALT apply the techniques of improvisation to a range of differentscenarios.

Improvisation TECHNIQUES that I have used successfully are, never say no.
Improvisation TECHNIQUES that I would like to have more practice at yes and.
The thing that I enjoyed most about this unit of learning was playing the games because they helped me be more confident.
The thing that I found most challenging during this unit of learning was drawing out characters that I didn't know because I had to ask what I should do.

My favourite improvisation game was party manic because it was fun coming up with what we were going to act out.
My next step/ something I need to work on further  in improvisation is getting up and acting more because I wasn't getting up if I didn't have to.

Maths

WALT: Communicate and interpret locations and directions, using compass directions, distances, and grid references.

Peer Mediation Distinction #2

On Friday I had Peer Mediation with Maddy when it was time for our duty we went and put our vests on and our landlards so that people knew that they could come to us if they had a problem.
There were no problems which is way better than having people waiting in a line.
Firstly we went around the the field because there are always a lot of people on it so just to make sure there weren't any problems. We mainly go on the junior side because they play mini games of soccer and the normally argue over the rules.
Secondly  we walked though the junior area and sandpit because the juniors sometimes have problems about someone pushing them or something.
Next we walk around the netball and basketball courts to see if everyone was doing the write thing. Then we when around the classrooms to see what people were doing and make sure they where in the right place.

I showed community by walking around the whole school.

I was also being trustworthy by showing up to my duty on time.

I continued being a role model by showing everyone how you should wair a vest properly.

Koru Games

The activity I did was netball.

My two highlights of the Koru games were:
1. Winning lots of games
2. There being chips that you could buy.

I am proud of coming 6th out of 32 teams because we only just lost to team that came second.

Next year I want to come a better place.

Peer Mediation Distinction #1

On Friday I had Peer Mediation with Maddy when it was time for our duty we went and put our vests on and our landlords so that people knew that they could come to us if they had a problem.
There were no problems again which is still good.
Firstly we went around the the filed because there are always a lot of people on it so just to make sure there weren't any problems.

I showed respect by not walking through peoples games so that I don't interrupt them.

I was also showing integrity by not just letting Maddy do all the work.

I continued being a role model by showing everyone what to do while walking around so the people could do the same.

Writing

WALT: write an information report on the waterway.

The water cycle is process that water goes through between land, sea and the atmosphere. The water is recycled throughout the the process. The water changes state throughout the process liquid, gas and solid. The steps in the water cycle are, evaporation, condensation, precipitation, runoff, groundwater and accumulation.

One of the steps is evaporation  and it aceers when the sun heats up and the water in the ocean, lakes and rivers turn into gas also known as vapour. It is an invisible process that changes frozen water and liquids into vapour. In warmer places or hotter days evaporation is greater. Vapour in the air is called humidity. After the water turns into a gas it floats up to the sky and forms into a cloud which is called condensation.

After evaporation is condensation, then precipitation and it happens when the clouds get too heavy it rains. Condensation happens because of the temperature changes and when it is warmer more water vapour and cold less. Some of the water vapour in the cold air high in the sky just cannot stay as a gas, and condenses into liquid water droplets. The amount of precipitation that falls every year is different all around the world, in deserts it may only one inch per year while on mountains it could rain more than 600 inches per year. After precipitation the water goes into the ground and is called runoff and groundwater.

Next runoff is nothing but water running off the surface and groundwater is nothing but water under the ground. Even though some rainfall soaks into the ground, most of it flows over the lands surface. Runoff is where the water goes on the ground or under to go into the rivers lakes and the ocean. Water below your feet is moving all the time, water underground moves due to gravity, downwards and sideways.

Overall you need these five steps evaporation, condensation, precipitation, groundwater and runoff. The water is recycled so if some of the steps didn't happen like precipitation we might not be alive right now.
