Technology Distinction #3

On Thursday the year 7/8's travel on a bus to get to lincoln primary school to have technology.
I am in science now at the start someone got to chose an element of the day and Sophie chose radium.
After that we tested 6 different brands of paper towels and we put it into some water and then we squeezed the water out and measured how much water it absorbed.
Next we drew a grah on the amount of water that they absorbed and tuffy absorbed the most amount of water.
Then once we haad finished we could carry on with our word find that he gave us at the start of the pentad.

I showed active thinking by making it fair and not makong the one I thought would absorb the most water win.

I was also showing integrity by being fair when testing by leaving them in for the same amount of time.

Careers Education C.V. Writing

In CAREERS EDUCATION we have been learning to write a skills based Curriculum Vitae.

A skills based C.V. focuses more on the skills that we have,  rather than our work history.

Here is a link to our online Modelling Book that shows the process we have followed.

Three things that I have learned about writing a Curriculum Vitae are:

  1. It can't have any spelling,  grammar and punctuation mistakes

  1. What skills are required to have a job

  1. It was easier than I thought

Here is a link to my Skills based Curriculum Vitae.

Key leadership role Distinction #1

On Monday the udent leaders had a meeting at 11:00 to 11:10.
At the start of the meeting we all grab a chair and sat in a circle.
Then Mr Ladbrook ask if Valery for the city council had replied to the email Anneke and Jacinta sent her.
The Email was about us asking if we could panit a mural on a power box because when we visited the city council they were talking about what we could do in our community.
Then Mr Ladbrook asked if the house captains had been doing the falgs and the bins.

I showed respect by listening to Mr ladbrook and not talking.

I was also showing integrity by being fair and letting others listen to him as well.

Technology Distinction #2

On Thursday the year 7/8's travel on a bus to get to lincoln primary school to have technology.
I am in science now at the start we were talking about the prerodic table and we got to chose one element and Sophie chose copper which is Cu on the prerodic table and we watched a video on it.
Then we were learning about a fair testing.
After that we tested 6 different brands of gum aqnd we timed how long the flavour lasted and the maximum was 5 minutes.
Next we drew a grah on the times that they lasted and the spearmint, bubblemint and airwaves lasted the longest amount of time.
Then once we haad finished we could carry on with our word find.

I showed active thinking by making sure I started the timer at the same time I put the gum in.

I was also showing integrity by being fair when testing by chewing at the same speed for all of them.

Technology Distinction #1

On Thursday the year 7/8's travel on a bus to get to lincoln primary school to have technology.
It was a new pentad so I am in science now at the start we were talking about the prerodic table and how it got made.
Next he showed us some beads and had a flast and the beads were in the flast and he puled on it and they went up and didn't touch the flast until they were all out.
Then we work on our title page for our books on mine I wrote science 2017 and then I drew so bottles, a volcano and a rocket.
After that we watched some videos on different things on the pereodic table and then we learned about adtoms and how big they were.

I showed respect by not talking while the teacher was talking.

I also was being an active thinker by asking questions when I didn't know something.

WALT: Reason with linear proportions.

I have been learning 3 WALTS

1.National Standard 1: Combine simple proportions to work out what parts the whole is made up in a unit of 10 like 3 yellow with 7 blue, 5 yellow with 5 blue, 4 yellow with 6 blue.
Say what the fraction and percentage of each stack is for yellow and blue.

2.National Standard 2: - Combine proportions to work out what parts the whole is made up of using non-multiple of 10 like 8 yellow:5 blue:4 white with 11 yellow:11 blue:11 white (19:16:15 and 38%:32%:30%)

3. National Standard 3: - Order fractions with unlike denominators by finding a common denominator

My evidence: Assessment task

My next step is: Geomotry maths test.

Reading - Text Composition

In reading we have been learning to….
recognise the way words, sentences and paragraphs are put together (eg sentences that express cause and effect) and use this knowledge to understand complicated texts.

These documents show evidence of my learning during this unit:
(link your own learning for each of these activities. Please make sure your sharing settings are open)

My Next Step: Is to continue to apply this new knowledge of parts of texts, to help me make sense of increasingly complicated text types.

City Council Trip Excellence #10

Today the student leaders went to the ccc (Christchurch city council) to learn about what they actually do in our neighborhoods and to the parks and the buildings they own. Firstly There was a lady showing  us what the satche outside meant and the river. Secondly we went into the function room which is just a big room with chairs that we could sit on. Then the lady who was showing us around showed us this slide show she must have made up and it had stuff about how much water they use per day how many bins they collect from houses and stuff like that so we could see how busy they actually are. After that we meet up with someone who worked at the ccc in groups of three. I was with Anneke and Maddy and we got to chose our groups whic was good. We meet up with a guy called Daniel, he worked in costumer sevice which means he looks after people complants they have we also learnt about a app called snap, send, solve which is when you are unhappy with something such as a pot hole you take a photo and send it to the council and they will reply with what they are going to do about it. Next we then did an activity where you had a subject and some of them were...Event planning, Park designing, and Grafitti. Anneke, Maddy and I had grafitti and we had a budget of $860,000 and we spent way under beacause we didn't know what to hae more of, so we had to find ways of cleaning and getting rid of grafiti. Then we went out for lunch. After that we got the bus and went back to school.

I showed respect by listening to the Celia when she was sharing.

I showed leadership by representing Oaklands school positively in the streets.
