Technology Excellence #1

On Tuesday all of the year 7/8's go to Lincoln to do technology. When we go there I'm in design and what we did was fill out a planning sheet so we know what we are going to make.
I'm making a cushion, I want it to be 30cm by 30cm and it to have small white stars with a black back ground.
Next we got to make a prototype I went with Anneke because we were both making a cushion so we got a fabric out of a box and cut it to the right size then we started sowing. Then stuffed it finally we hand sowed the gap.

I showed respect by not talking while the teacher was talking and on the bus by not shouting across it.

I also was being motivational  to people by helping them hand sow something.

Peer Mediation Excellence #5

On Friday I had Peer Mediation with Anneke there were no problems again which is still good. Firstly we walked around the field and senior playground once again to make sure no one had a problem.
Next we went onto the courts and went though the junior area were little kids would normally come to you and ask you a random question but they didn't.
Then we when around the classrooms to see what people were doing and make sure they where in the right place.
After that we walked around the courts to take up time and to make sure there weren't any problems.

I showed respect by not walking through peoples games so that I don't interrupt them.

I also was being trustworthy by showing up to duty and not just letting Anneke do all of the work.

Librarian Excellence #5

On Thursday I had librarian with Charlie when we got there we walked to the trolley and started putting books back on the shelves.
Secondly we sat at the desk to return the books.
Next we placed the books we just returned on the shelves.
After that we waited to see if anybody wanted to issue books and when someone came Charlie was on the computer and I was scanning what I had to do was type that name in and when it came up I scanned the barcode on the book so it showed up as they have the book out.
Then it was time to close the library.

I showed community by helping people find books and issuing them out for them.

I was also being self aware by showing up to my duty on time.

Visual Art

WALT: Apply knowledge about shapes and patterns derived from nature into an original artwork

For Visual Art the SOLO level I achieved was: Extended Abstract because I have used all of the techniques and chosen patterns derived from nature.

The techniques I used in my art work to achieve this level were:
Moving colours, Shading, Glazing.

Here is a photo of my artwork:

My next step in visual art is: To use the shading in different patterns instead of circles.

Peer Mediation Excellence #4

On Wednesday I had peer mediation with Charlie and Anneke there weren't any problems which is always good. Firstly we walked around the junior area and sandpit to make sure the juniors were fine and they didn't have something wrong.
Then we went around the field and senior playground to make sure no one had a problem to solve.
Next we walked by rooms 1,2,3,4 and so on to see if people were hurt or had problems.
After that we walked around the courts just to make sure that there aren't any last minute problems. Then the bell rang to go back to class.

I showed excellence by when i was walking i was being a role model by wearing my vest properly.

I also showed resilience by walking around for the whole time and not stopping because there weren't any problems.

Librarian Excellence #4

On Thursday I had librarian with Charlie when we got there we went over to the trolly and there were way more books than normal so it took us way longer to do. Secondly we sat at the desk to return the books.
Next we placed the books we just returned on the shelves.
After that we waited to see if anybody wanted to issue books and when someone came I was on the computer and Charlie was scanning what I had to do was type that name in and when it came up Charlie scanned the barcode on the book so it showed up as they have the book out. Then it was time to close the library.

I showed respect by speaking nicely to people when I need to get there name and not yelling at them.

I also was being trustworthy by placing the books in the right place instead of putting them somewhere random so people couldn't find them.

Librarian Excellence #3

On Thursday I had Librarian with Charlie when we first got there we once again started putting books off the trolly onto the shelf.
Secondly we returned books that people had brought back. Next we put the books that we had just returned back on the shelves. When we were issuing I was on scanning and Charlie was on the computer.
That day it was quite busy but not the busiest it has been. After all of the things we had done it was time to close the library so we went around telling people that it was closing.

I showed respect by communicating quietly and respectfully.

I also was being trustworthy by not scanning random things for fun.

Peer Mediation Excellence #3

On Friday I had peer mediation with Charlie and Anneke there was one problem where two year ones who were fighting over a skipping rope. Firstly we would normally ask them if they agreed to the rules but because they were year ones they wouldn't have understood.
So then we ask where they got it from so they could see if there was another one and luckily there was. When we were walking around we firstly walked around the filed and senior playground again just to make sure.
Next we walked around the junior area which is where the problem happened. Finally we did a loop around the courts.

I showed community by walking around the whole school to make sure there weren't any problems, not just going around the field the whole time.

I was also so being resilient by not just walking away from the problem when they weren't agreeing.

Definitions
Void: an empty space or vacuum.

Fluorescent: able to give off visible light after being exposed to a source of heat, light, or other form of energy

Vulnerable: able to be hurt or injured

Example/Non Example
Is a void messy? Why or why not?
No because it is an empty space so it doesn’t have anything in it.
Which color is the most fluorescent at night? Why?
Silver Because when light goes on to it it reflects off like on cones with the silver tape.
Why are elderly people more vulnerable than children? Why?
Because the are getting older and it is harder to stay balanced and they don’t always know what they are doing.
Which is more interconnected; a vine or a dandelion? Why?
A vine because the grow and connect and get bigger and bigger.
Which is more seldom; the Olympics or an election in NZ? Why?
The Olympics because they are every four years and an election in NZ is every three years.

Word Associations
The plants in the garden are die during a frost
Vulnerable
There were lots of different paths that joined each other

I made a shot from halfway while facing backwards.
seldom
We are still exploring  outer space.
Void
I can find my key ring easily in the dark.
fluorescent

Word Relationships

How might each pair of words be connected?
Vulnerable/Fluorescent
because when you are vulnerable you are able to be hurt and a fluorescent is something able to give off visible light after being exposed.
Void/interconnected
because a void can be a vacuum and that can connect things together inside. When you have interconnected something it is caused to be connected.

Extended Writing
Think of a time when you felt as though you were in a void or when you saw something that happens seldom. Write a paragraph about this.
I saw someone get a half court as a buzzer beater in a game of basketball. They just throw the ball and it went in the hoop as a swish. That doesn’t happen a lot so i was surprised that it went in and i can’t even get the distance of one. Then that one shot made them win the game by one point. When they were dribbling up the court the could see the clock counting down 3,2,1 and when the clock hit one the ball was out of the players hands and in the hoop. The person who got the shoot in was obviously happy with themselves and they need to win that game because it was the final.

Librarian Excellence #2

On Thursday I had librarian with Charlie as usual we firstly started placing the books that had all ready been returned back on the shelves in number/letter order.
Secondly we sat down and returned the books. Next we put the books in a pile back on the shelf. Then we were issuing books for people I was scanning and Charlie was on the computer what I had to do was scan the books barcode so once Charlie hd there name up on the computer that it would be under there name and no one else's.
After that we went round and told everyone that the library was closing.

I showed active thinking by suggesting appreciate books.

I also was being trustworthy by showing up to duty and not just letting Charlie do all of the work.
