Elections writing

WALT: Write an effective argument for our chosen political party.

Have you voted yet? The National party is the party to vote for in this election. I believe that New Zealand doesn’t need to change, their isn’t any reason that we should change the country when it is going great. For instance; the amount of crimes that are happening is increasing, people are dying because they can’t afford to go to the doctor, people need a better health system. National have so many great policies that they have promised. Personally, I know that increasing police staff will help New Zealand become even safer.

The first policy I’m going to talk about is increasing police staff by 1,125 over four years. National believes that New Zealand is one of the safest countries in the world but it could be even safer. Increasing the number of police should deliver a more responsive Police service. I believe, it will help the community with not having to be concerned about getting robbed. Furthermore, it will  prevent crime and victimisation, resolve more crimes, and more effectively target criminal gangs and organised crime. Lots of people commit the crime because the have a low income and can’t afford to go to the doctor.

The second policy I’m going to talk about is to cap doctor visits at $18 for people with low incomes. Expanding $18 doctor visits means more  New Zealanders on low incomes can access healthcare when they need it. For instance, less people will get diseases and if they do then they can get cured without taking it from things that are more important like their food money. I think, there will be less people who are sick/ill because they can’t go to the doctors. Having to pay less money to go to the doctors helps, but we also need more funding in health so that more people can get cured from diseases and other health issues.

My third policy I’m going to talk about is increasing health funding by 3.9 billion over four years. National believes New Zealand’s health system is facing cost pressures. Increasing health funding should ensure all New Zealanders have access to high quality health services. This is a great way to use the money as it helps lots of people in the country. As more people come to New Zealand it is important that we have a good health system. These are policies that I agree with the next one I totally disagree with

Labour has a poor policy of reducing teacher to child ratio group sizes. Firstly, It will cost more money to get more teachers. Teachers can handle classes that have about 25 students in them and that is the average. Thirdly, I believe that if there are classes with more students there are normally two or more teachers. However, just because Labour's policies aren’t great. It doesn’t mean we can’t continue with Nationals.

Clearly, I have explained why National is the best party to vote for. Nationals policies are very strong in health. I have talked about increasing police staff, making it cheaper to go to the doctor if you have a low income and increasing health funding. All of these would help New Zealand a lot.
So you know who I’m voting for who are you?

My next steps are:  Is to use emotive language more in my argument.
